Romanian Transport Min Says Rail Employees Warning Strike Is Immoral

"This warning strike is their Constitution-given and labor law right, but I find this protest immoral and unfair to passengers and freight transport companies, who represent a source for the salaries of railroad employees," Orban told a news conference.
 
The minister added any wage increase must have an economic base and the demanded 18% increase “translates” into a raise of at least 32% and the railroad’s 2008 budget  cannot handle that.
 
Over 50,000 railroad employees cease work Wednesday morning for two hours, hating trains in the nearest station at 8 a.m., union leader Gheorghe Popa said.
