Boagiu said the airport’s modernization will create economic potential in the county and in the region.
Flutur said the contractor that will design and implement the project will be selected by March 2012. The modernization work will begin in September 2012.
Through the project, the airport’s beacons and navigation system will be upgraded, the runway will be extended and a new control tower will be built. The project will receive EUR20.9 million from the EU, EUR9 million from the national budget and the rest from the county budget and the Suceava Airport Autonomous Administration.
