Romanian Civil Aeronautic Authority head Florea Geica will be dismissed, secretary of state within the Ministry of Transport Antonel Tanase told MEDIAFAX.
Romanian Transport Ministry To Dismiss Civil Aeronautic Auth Head
"Florea Geica will be dismissed from his position sometime Thursday, through and order. The decision is made," Tanase said.
The Romanian Ministry of Transport asked Florea Geica to resign from the position of general manager of the Civil Aeronautic Authority (AACR), at the request of Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu, ministry sources told MEDIAFAX.
The request was formulated by Tariceanu in the Government meeting held Wednesday.
"Let him resign and become a pensioner, he already has a very high income," Tariceanu said in the Government meeting, according to the quoted sources.
The information was confirmed by Antonel Tanase, secretary of state within the Ministry of Transport, who said Florea Geica, currently on medical leave, was told to resign.
"The Prime Minister’s request is perfectly reasonable, and this was a point of focus for us as well, because we wish to change management at the Authority. Florea Geica is currently on medical leave, but we told him to resign. Otherwise, we will probably fire him," Tanase said.
He said Geica wasn’t able to manage the media scandal in which he was involved.
Contacted by MEDIAFAX, Florea Geica said he has not yet heard of the Prime Minister’s request and he will return from medical leave when he feels well.
"I have no idea. I don’t know why he would demand my resignation. I am on medical leave. I will return when I feel better," Geica said.
Labor minister Mariana Campeanu said last week that the Labor Inspection and the Ministry of Transport’s Control Body began an investigation at the Romanian Civil Aeronautic Authority, to check the pension files of manager Florea Geica.
The National Integrity Agency too is checking Geica’s income, who allegedly has a pension reaching RON30,000 (EUR1 = RON3.5909).
Two weeks ago, employees of the civil aeronautic authority requested an inspection of manager Florea Geica’s pension files, claiming he allegedly wrote the general manager income illegally in the document.
