Romanian Transports Ministry To Implement Electronic Toll Sticker As Of August 1
Funds raised from compensations will constitute extra revenue for the National Road and Highway Company CNADNR and amount to the price per year of a toll sticker, according to a press release by the Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure, issued Thursday to MEDIAFAX.
The Transports Ministry has developed a draft Government decision to implement the system.
„The system will allow the automatic monitoring of all vehicles, by visually identifying license plates recorded in traffic, the geographic location where the recording was made and will permit on-field inspections,” the press release said.
CNADNR will track sample traffic and transmit the identification data of vehicles suspected of traveling illegally to field inspection personnel.
Early this year, CNADNR selected the Novensys Corporation/UTI Systems consortium to deliver the system, in a contract worth 35.96 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1440), VAT not included.
