The protest ended after the Parliament started debates on the no-confidence motion to be put to the vote later Wednesday.

According to Bucharest Gendarmerie spokesman Florin Hulea, about 8,000 unionists attend the rally.

The Government sought a confidence vote in Parliament to adopt new labor legislation on March 8. The opposition (social democrats, liberals, conservatives) filed a motion of no-confidence in an attempt to overthrow the Government.

Passing the no-confidence motion would require the favorable vote of 236 out of 471 lawmakers.
