They asked the president to find a solution to their problems.
PS Ioan Selejean , bishop of Covasna and Harghita, said after the meeting with President Basescu that the latter took notice of the problems raised by the members of the Romanian civil society from the area and promised to solve them within the boundaries of constitutional law.
The bishop said that authorities have to better communicate with this area, which is predominantly populated by the Hungarian minority in Romania.
Selejean said the president promised to talk to the Hungarian part in the region so that Romanians should not be put in humiliating situations in what the language is concerned.
According to Selejean this was the first meeting between the president and the Romanian community living in the region.
The bishop said that in this region Romanians are fewer than the Magyars and seem to be treated like a minority in their own country.
He asked both Romanians and Magyars to make peace and find a common goal.
