Companies will allot EUR3.2 million in 2010 to these services, 30% more than in 2009, said the report.
Out of all text messages sent last year, approximately 80% provided information, while the other 20% marketed a product or service.
Netopia Sistem will deliver 54 million messages in 2010, 60% of the overall estimated figure. In 2009, 35 million text messages were sent via the web2sms platform, amounting to 50% of the overall figure.
According to Antonio Eram, the company's executive manager, market growth in 2010 will mostly rely on the companies' need to inform their customers of outstanding debts. Over four million such messages were sent in April through web2sms, an all-time record number.
Over 50% of all such text messages are sent by companies in the banking and finance sector, while 30% are issued by producers of consumer goods.
Companies also use text messaging to inform customers or potential customers of newly-opened branches or stores and special offers. Companies invest in communication via text messages because it is cheap and effective, said Eram.
web2sms is a Romanian mobile communications service, which has reported yearly increases in numbers of messages delivered, from 6.5 million in 2007, to 16 million in 2008.
