Romanians Working Abroad Can Request Higher State Allowance For Kids

Bertzi said that, according to European Regulation 1408, Romanian children whose parents are working abroad can request a state allowance higher than the one granted in Romania, provided that the Romanian citizens are working legally in the respective country.
According to the European document, if the value of the allowance in the state where one or both parents work is higher than the one in the country of origin, the child can receive a higher allowance.
If the parents are working in different countries, and the child remains in Romania, the parents can choose the highest allowance granted in one of the three states.
Bertzi added that Regulation 1408 is applied for all member states, as well as for Norway, Liechtenstein, Island (members of the European Economic Area) and in Switzerland.
