Retirees will be able to cash their pensions in their country of residence, according to a social security agreement between Romania and Canada, which the Romanian Government passed in a bill Wednesday.
"This is a legal agreement between Romania and Canada regulating the mutual acknowledgment of social security contributions," Labor Minister Mihai Seitan said during the Cabinet meeting.
So far, people who received state pensions in Romania were not allowed to also receive pensions in Canada and vice versa, the minister explained.
