Romania will express its preliminary intention to participate in an initial set of 10 PESCO projects, of the ones that member states have advanced so far, conditioned by their acceptance within PESCO and whose subsequent development corresponds to the national priorities regarding the development of military capabilities, reads a press release from the Presidential Administration.

According to the Presidential Administration, PESCO will represent an enhanced means of cooperation along the Common Security and Defense Policy dimension and will provide the opportunity for member states that meet advanced criteria regarding military capabilities and that wish to undertake further commitment to achieve a mutually structured cooperation.

The Council has also approved measures needed to streamline the endowment of the Romanian Army and the boost of the national defense industry involved in producing 8×8 armored personnel carriers and byproducts and carrying out maintenance for these products.
