Romanian Mothers To Receive Child-Rearing Benefits After Third Birth – Bill
As per Government Emergency Ordinance 111/2010, these benefits are provided only for the first three births, not counting stillbirths or instances where the child dies during maternity leave.
The bill says the benefit and leave will be provided for „every child;” it does not change the benefit’s amount or period of maternity leave. If adopted, the bill could take effect on January 1, 2013.
The two senators argue that the changes will have a slight effect on budget expenses, as very few mothers would be eligible for the benefits anyway.
