The chief of the National Cultural Patrimony Protection Service within the Romanian Police, Aurel Condrut, told MEDIAFAX that the bracelets were recovered from a foreign citizen and will reach Romania Friday afternoon.
The Romanian state paid over EUR100,000 in compensation to the person holding the bracelets.
Condrut added other items from the “Dacian Gold” will be recovered, as they are currently the topic of negotiations between Romanian authorities and foreign citizens.
In the treasure hunting case file, 13 people are charged with having illegally dug in the archeological sites in the Orastiei Mountains, where they allegedly discovered 15 Dacian bracelets weighing a total 20 kilograms which they later sold on the black market, mostly abroad.
In this trial, the Ministry of Culture demanded EUR6.6 million in damages from the defendants.
So far the Romanian state has so far recovered 11 bracelets of the 15 said to be missing.
