Borbely said the Hungarian minority party proposed a series of measures to bring economy on track, adding some were adopted and others are still debated on by the country's ruling coalition. He stressed his party insisted that the minimum pension be maintained at 350 lei (EUR1=RON4.2051).
The Government will seek a confidence vote in Parliament to swiftly adopt an austerity plan that cuts wages, pensions and social welfare benefits and will face no-confidence motions promised by the opposition.
Romanian Liberal Party leader Crin Antonescu said liberals are willing to rule the country if the current Government is overthrown and no other party assumes such responsibility.
