The meeting is attended by party leader Liviu Dragnea and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, but also by top-ranked social democrats such as Niculae Badalau, Dragos Benea, Rodica Nassar or Mihai Fifor.
Former Labor Minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu, who was left without a cabinet office following the president’s refusal to appoint her as transportations minister, was also present on the meeting.
Earlier on Tuesday, President Klaus Iohannis announced that he rejected two of the eight PSD proposals for a government reshuffle, specifically Vasilescu for transportations and Ilan Laufer for regional development.
Iohannis also rejected the dismissal requests for the two ministers currently holding the offices.
According to a Constitutional Court decision, the president can only refuse nominations for a cabinet office once with reason, while the Prime Minister cannot make the same rejected proposal for the same office a second time.
