Romania’s Social Democrat Party (PSD) started on Wednesday a new meeting of its national executive committee, to discuss the actions it will take in response to President Klaus Iohannis refusing to appoint its proposals for new transportations and regional development ministers.

The meeting began on Wednesday afternoon at Bucharest’s Palace of the Parliament, around 17.00 local time.
Justice Minister Tudorel Toader also arrived and entered the meeting, but declined to tell journalists why he was summoned.
Party sources told MEDIAFAX that the group’s standing bureau voted on Tuesday night to propose Lia Olguta Vasilescu as the new regional development minister and treasurer Mircea Draghici as transportations minister, though no official announcement was made in this regard.
Earlier in the day, Iohannis refused the proposals of Vasilescu (transportations) and Ilan Laufer (regional development), calling them “inadequate”, and also refused to dismiss the ministers currently in office.
Six other cabinet changes were approved by the president, after being decided as part of a government reshuffle in a PSD executive committee meeting on Monday.
