“We decided to give the opposition the opportunity to show that they have enough votes to pass their motion. PSD will not fix its problems by the hand of the opposition, PSD could not vote for a motion full of lies. We will discuss the motion at a later date, but we most also have a discussion with Tudorel Toader. There is a state discontent we do not wish to hide which will be resolved next week, one way or another.
Asked why the party is discontent with the minister’s activity, Dragnea pointed towards public criticism addressed by PSD MP Florin Iordache, who slammed Toader for passing a decree amending judicial bills without discussing it with magistrates beforehand.
Dragnea added that a discussion between him, coalition co-leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and the justice minister will take place either this Friday or next Monday.
Wednesday’s plenary session of Romania’s Lower Chamber was suspended because of a lack of quorum shortly before a schedule vote on an opposition no-confidence motion against Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, after the PSD group decided not to attend the procedure.
