Several current ministers will be targeted by the reshuffle, according to the sources, including Regional Development Minister Daniel Suciu, Interior Minister Carmen Dan, Transports Minister Razvan Cuc and Agriculture Minister Petre Daea.
They added that there is also some discontent within the party against Justice Minister Ana Birchall, but Prime Minister Viorica Dancila has not yet made a decision regarding her office.
The sources also told MEDIAFAX that finance minister and PSD Executive Chairman Eugen Teodorovici is currently the favorite in the internal competition for presidential nominee, with the party to consider support for either an own candidate, a ruling coalition candidate or an extra-party candidate.
PSD Secretary General Mihai Fifor announced on Monday that the party will hold a National Congress on August 3 to decide its presidential candidate.
The leader of the social-democrats’ coalition partners ALDE, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, announced on Tuesday that he will run in the presidential elections as his party’s candidate, adding that future talks after July 20 will decide whether he will have the entire ruling coalition’s backing.
