Romanian Ctrl Bk Keeps ’09 Inflation Forecast Of 4.5%

The National Bank of Romania, or BNR, maintained its forecast for the 2009 inflation rate at 4.5%, the central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said Friday.

The central bank estimates that the inflation will enter in its targeted variation band at the end of the year, Isarescu said.

In November, BNR revised upwards its forecast on 2009 inflation to 4.5%, from the previous estimate of 4.2%.

For 2009, the central bank targets a 3.5% inflation, plus or minus one percentage point.
