Tariceanu, who was on a visit in Belgrade, returned to Bucharest, where he will hold a press conference.
Romanian president Traian Basescu announced Friday that he promulgated the law increasing teacher salaries by 50% starting October 1.
The head of state said the law observes constitutional criteria and he finds it adequate.
The Government initially announced an extraordinary meeting for Saturday morning, to discuss the implications of Basescu’s decision, but the meeting was postponed because most ministers are in territory.
“The Government meeting was postponed because most ministers are away in territory, performing various activities. The Executive will reunite Tuesday in the 2009 budget meeting,” culture minister Adrian Iorgulescu told MEDIAFAX.
