Rus, accused of having raped and stabbed a student, assaulted the prison therapist, his second assault on a woman in a matter of hours. Prison guards seized the detainee and put him in isolation, the Italian daily wrote.

Prosecutors charged Rus with attempted murder, deprivation of freedom and rape and are trying to collect “irrefutable evidence” against the Romanian.

Rus, who has been in Rome since January, was sentenced to jail three times in Romania for theft.

The rape victim underwent surgery and doctors are optimistic about her recovery.
