The deputy leader of the Dacia Automobile union, Ion Iordache, said negotiations with management failed, thus Coturbi employees decided to go on warning strike.

"We could not reach an agreement today either, basically the management did not come up with a salary hike offer. Unionists request a gross salary hike of 360 lei (EUR1 = RON3.6506), while the management’s latest offer, the one forwarded yesterday, identical with the one discussed today, was a gross RON160 increase. The strike is joined by 95 of the company’s 130 employees, especially highly skilled welders, who work in very tough conditions," Iordache said, adding that the employees did not leave their workplaces during the strike.

Iordache said 95 strikers are union members and, of the 15,000 members of the union, 9,000 are employees of carmaker Dacia, and the rest belong to the 12 companies supplying car parts, including cable maker Leoni and Coturbi.

According to the quoted source, the companies Leoni and Coturbi have not yet concluded negotiations on the collective labor contracts, while the other ten companies have signed the contract.
