„I consider it a wise decision to choose somebody who is familiar with the European perspectives on agriculture, considering that important decisions will be made regarding the Union’s agriculture policy over the next two years and Romania might thus be represented in the Agriculture Ministers’ Council by someone who knows the European position,” Ciolos said.
Ciolos said he hopes Dumitru will surround himself by people who know the problems Romania’s agriculture confront with and keep open the dialogue with professional agriculture organization, if he is endorsed minister.
Mihail Dumitru, who was also a EC expert on agriculture issues, was designated agriculture minister and is to be heard by a special parliament commission Tuesday.
