Dr. Kincses Sandor, director of the Mures county branch of national food safety agency DSVSA, told MEDIAFAX that the product was partially commercialized through a local shopping chain.

By the time the distributor was announced, it only had 20kg of the affected batch left in stock.

“The processing unit sent samples to a private lab in Bucharest for analyses, where it was discovered that two out of the five samples were infected with salmonella. We were notified immediately, and we passed it on to the distributor and shopping chain. They found only 20kg on the selves, the batch was not on sale anymore,” said the DSVSA Mures director.

He added that no cases of consumer intoxication or disease were signaled as of Friday, with the products made from the batch having their expirations dates set for Thursday.

The director also mentioned that DSVSA agents inspected the processing unit on Thursday to determine whether the infections was caused by employees, but found no irregularities on site.
