Romania Wants To Speed Up Deal For White Stream 2

Romania plans to speed up the signing of a trilateral agreement with Azerbaijan and Georgia for the participation in White Stream 2 pipeline project, targeting the transport of liquefied gas from Georgia to Europe via Constanta harbor, Economy Minister Adriean Videanu said Tuesday.

„Last week, we had talks in Batumi, Georgia, with partners in the Caspian Sea zone, about all energy projects that Romania is interested in. Nabucco is a priority, while White Stream 2 is complementary to Nabucco, not a competitor,” Videanu told a news conference.

At the end of January, the Economy Ministry representatives will go to Azerbaijan for talks on energy projects.

On the other hand, Romanian officials expect a visit of Russian power group Gazprom representatives late January, to continue talks related to collaboration opportunities for natural gas storage in Romania.

Videanu said the details of the visit have not been established yet.
