Romanian Revolutionary Descendants Protest In Front Of High Court
The court on Monday postponed on technicalities the trial, in which generals Victor Athanasie Stanculescu and Mihai Chitac are accused of genocide, for September 15.
In April 2007, a panel of three judges of the High Court of Justice had sentenced the generals to 15 years in prison each. Both defendants appealed the ruling.
The representative of protesters, Mihaela Ferchel, told a news conference Monday the organization will demand that the Court set a new trial term in one month at most, not on September 15.
Protesters also plan to request that the trial be held in Timisoara, western Romania, as some of the parties in the trial are in wheelchairs and cannot travel to Bucharest.
