Romania ’10 Budget Gap Seen At 5.9% Of GDP – Fin Min

Romania’s 2010 budget will be drafted around a deficit envisaged at 5.9% of the gross domestic product, Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea said Thursday.

Pogea said the total financing to support public investments will reach between 6% and 7% of the GDP next year.

He mentioned all ministries have been requested to file their budget projections for next year, so that the Finance Ministry can finish the draft budget.

Romania’s budget deficit is estimated to reach 7.3% of the GDP this year, against an initial prediction of 4.6% of the GDP agreed upon with the International Monetary Fund in spring.

For 2010, the government has pledged to run a deficit gap below 6% of the GDP.
