Romanian President Rages Against High Salaries Of Govt Agencies Heads
Asked to comment on the issue, the head of state said these agencies became "the money land of government‘s political clientele," adding it is high time somebody put an end to this situation.
According to Basescu, the “huge” salaries getting into the hands of several heads of government agencies clearly show that things really got out of control.
Basescu mentioned the salary of the manager of the country’s investment fund Fondul Proprietatea, saying her salary is huge although the institution she runs did not start paying compensations to people whose property was seized under communism.
The head of state said the only solution in this case is to turn the taxes levied by these agencies into state budget revenues, adding the government should set the salaries of the staff within government agencies in ratio with professional achievements.
Basescu also said the heads of government agencies fill positions of state secretaries.
