Romanian Senate Allows Govt To Issue Emergency Decrees During Parliament Recess

"We opted for eight sectors where we allow the government to rule on. It is the attribution of the new majority to adjust these attributions to the needs of the new government. I hope members of the commission for legal matters don’t add any sectors that are the object of organic laws, because that’s not in the Constitution,” liberal senator Mihai Voicu said.

 

According to the legal commission’s report, senators allowed the government to issue regulations to ensure financial resources needed to sustain the state pension system and to increase funding for the thermal rehabilitation of buildings.

 

The Chamber of Deputies makes the final decision in the matter.
