According to a first assessment by the county emergency inspectorate, about 100 homes have been affected and some 500 people are in need of help. Local authorities have requested the state reserve authority to provide food and water to people who need assistance.
The two localities are at the feet of mountains and very much exposed to floods.
Brahasesti mayor Vasile Baiculescu said the homes affected are the same that were hit by floods in September 2007. The mayor added state secretary with the Interior ministry Victor Paul Dobre is expected on site Saturday to assess the damages.
