Sandu also said the country’s communications and economy ministries have worked on a project meant to grant facilities to IT companies in 2010, given the importance of the IT sector.

„Posta Romana shall not be sold during my term, as it will become a profit-yielding company upon reorganization,” Sandu said, adding „the plan is to extend the company’s services and operations and render its offices highly efficient.”

Sandu also ruled out the possibility to sell the ministry’s stake in hardline telephony operator Romtelecom or sell the national radio communications company Radiocom, one of the country’s main providers of electronic communications networks and services.

Sandu stressed the ministry also plans to develop the e-Romania project in 2010 in order to have 50% of payments, including fines and various taxes, conducted via the country’s electronic payment system.

According to Sandu, the ministry also plans to increase the number of public purchases via electronic system, to reach 30% of total public purchases.

Romania’s Parliament committees for information technology and economic matters Tuesday endorsed proposed Communications and Information Society Minister Gabriel Sandu with 17 to one votes.

Sandu, a democrat liberal, is the country’s current communications minister.

Prime Minister-designate Emil Boc will seek Wednesday a confidence vote for a Cabinet of 15 ministers and a deputy prime minister.
