Campaign Staffs Of Romania’s Top Presidential Contenders Agree On Direct Debate Wednesday

Ponta said the campaign staffs have yet to decide on the presidential contenders to partake in the debate.

He pointed out the campaign staff of President Traian Basescu wants a direct debate with the top three contenders, while the campaign staff of social democrat contender Mircea Geoana wants at the debate table, besides the top three candidates, ethic Hungarian contender Kelemen Hunor, independent Sorin Oprescu and other candidates as well.

Ponta stressed the social democrats are in favor of a table debate between five contenders, since a direct debate between Basescu and Geoana seems impossible.
