According to the sources, businessman Catalin Chelu had been trying for some time to bribe Fatuloiu, who reported him to the DNA. Chelu is reportedly in the attention of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crimes and Terrorism (DIICOT) in three cases relating to money laundering, tax evasion and capital market crimes.

The businessman was detained for questioning.

Fatuloiu said there was more than one person offering, telling daily paper „Gandul” that the bribes consisted of „two homes, two cars and EUR50,000.” According to the paper, the total value of the bribe was EUR1 million.
