Scholarships Will Match The Number Of Requests From Moldova, Ukraine – Romanian President

Romanian president Traian Basescu said Thursday the Romanian state would be glad to receive as many scholarship requests as possible from Romanian speaking youths in Moldova and Ukraine, adding 70 youths from Transdniester will begin studying in Romania.

Basescu made this announcement at Sulina (SE Romania) where he attended the launch of the Program "ARC – 2009" – a program dedicated to Romanian ethnic children and youths everywhere.

"Regarding education for you, I am glad that this year there were requests and we have honored all requests, 70 children, youths from the Transdniester will begin college studies at universities in Romania. We would be glad to receive as many requests as possible and we will certainly allot scholarships for as many requests as there are, which we also do for youths in Romania, and for youths in Ukraine, for Romanian speaking youths," Basescu told the Transdniester children in the Sulina camp.

Basescu is accompanied by the president of the Tulcea County Council, the prefect and the secretary of state for Romanians everywhere.
