Holland Might Put On Hold Labor Mkt Opening To Romania, Bulgaria

Dutch minister of social affairs, Piet Hein Donner, decided that Holland put on hold the opening of its labor market for Romanian and Bulgarian workers until July 1, 2009, the Brabants Dagblad daily reported on its website Sunday.

Donner said their measure is grounded on the global financial crisis, stressing, however, that he also wants to see whether the measures taken against illegal recruitment agencies are effective.

Donner will send a letter next week to the Parliament’s lower house, requesting that the opening of the country’s labor market to Romanian and Bulgarian workers be put off, at least until July 1, 2009.
