SE Romania Under Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert Until Saturday Morning

Romanian weather authorities issued a code yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms in six counties in southeastern Romania, valid until Saturday morning.

The counties under alert are Braila, Calarasi, Constanta, Galati, Ialomita and Tulcea.

Precipitation is expected to exceed 30 liters per square meter and even 50 liters per square meters on the Black Sea shore.

Romania has been severely hit by floods over the past two weeks, leaving 23 dead and about 18,000 evacuated and hundreds of homes, roads, farmland and pastures damaged.
