„The mission for the evaluation of Romania’s economic program appreciated the country’s progress and discussed the measures necessary to continue fiscal consolidation and accelerate economic growth. The meeting talked about the principles of the budgetary revision scheduled for this summer. The need for predictability and transparency in the budgetary procedure was stressed. The President emphasized that action is needed to complete Romania’s public investment program, to encourage the use of European funds, as well as to reform the healthcare sector and state enterprises,” says a Presidential Administration press release.
At the start of the meeting, IMF delegation head Jeffrey Franks said that, although the mission is halfway through its evaluation, he has good news. President Basescu stated Romania’s goal is supporting job creation.
