Romanian Education Min Should Not Take Credit For ’04 Salary Hikes – Unions

“The minister would better show some common sense and retrieve 27% from the 93% figure that represents salary hikes for pre-university teachers, as the 27% figure represents the increase granted in 2004, when a different government was in power. It is not normal for Adomnitei to take credit for the negotiations we carried with the other government,” executive president of Spiru Haret Federation, Marius Nistor said.

The Romanian Education Minister Cristian Adomnitei said earlier Monday that the salary for teachers in pre-university educational system increased by 93% in 2008 compared to 2004, while university teachers saw a 79% increase in their salary during the mentioned interval.
