Senate Tacitly Adopts Law Abolishing Special Pensions For Dignitaries
Romania’s Senate tacitly passed on Wednesday a bill which eliminates special pensions for all MPs, the ombudsman, diplomats and court auxiliary specialized personnel, among others.

The draft bill was filed by opposition party PMP and was adopted by default on Wednesday, as its deadline for debate and adoption was set for December 26, 2018.
The project also abolishes special pension rights for Court of Accounts, National Criminal Expertize Institute and civil aviation personnel.
Under the bill, some of the funds received from the cuts would be used to grant additional benefits for military veterans, disabled veterans and war widows.
Romania’s Lower Chamber will acts as a deciding body on the matter.
