Union representatives said in a press release Wednesday that education employees will continue their protests, which will be carried out according to the schedule set on May 12.

Education unionists started a full-blown strike on May 31, in protest against the 15% wage cut for public sector employees, and against the new education law.

The Government adopted two draft laws that make up its austerity measures, which include reducing pensions by 15% and state employees’ salaries by 25%. Senate Chairman Mircea Geoana said earlier Wednesday that Romania’s Government will seek a confidence vote in Parliament Monday afternoon for the two draft laws on its austerity plan.
