Romanian President To Attend Govt Meeting On Wage Law, IMF Agreement, Schengen Accession

Romania’s President Traian Basescu has been invited to attend the Government meeting on Wednesday which will discuss the public sector wage law, the country’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund and Schengen accession.

The president will also be informed on issues such as EU fund absorption and Romania’s participation at the NATO council in Lisbon set for November 19 and 20, the Government said in a press release.

Under the Constitution, the head of state can attend Government meetings for debates on matters of national interest, defense, public order and at the invitation of the prime minister. The head of states presides the Cabinet meetings he attends.
