Serb Protesters Hang Romanian Flag At UN Mission Building In Kosovo
Also, all Serbs employed by Kosovo’s temporary institutions and local authorities Gnjilane, near Kosovska Mitrovica, have resigned.
According to Radio-Television Serbia, a group of 73 employees have refused to continue work in those bodies as they do not recognize the self-proclaimed institutions of an independent Kosovo, and the Gnjilane Serbs have also been joined by Serb employees from Vitina, Radio B92 said on its website.
Serb justice workers protested this morning in front of the building housing the UN mission in Kosovska Mitrovica. Over 400 citizens carried banners with slogans such as “UN mission yes, EU mission no”, “As long as we exist, you continue”, “With rights in court”, “In the name of justice, in the name of the people”.
A Romanian flag was placed next to the Serbian flag at the building’s main gates. Romania has refused to recognize the independence of Serbia’s breakaway province of Kosovo.
The protest passed off peacefully and without incident.
