Romanians are forbidden to cross the border to Serbia unless they have tickets for this evening’s football match between the two countries’ national teams, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saturday, adding the measure taken by the Serbian authorities was not officially transmitted to Romania.

Serbia Takes Border Security Measures During Serbia-Romania Football Match – Foreign Affairs Min

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release the Romanian citizens who want to be present at the match between Romania's and Serbia's national football teams will be permitted to cross the border to Serbia only if they have tickets for the game.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Serbian authorities took this measure to increase security during the game.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added the Romanian Embassy to Belgrade officially asked the Serbian local authorities to protect Romanian supporters during their presence in Serbia.


The match between the two countries' football teams in the seventh group of the World Cup 2010 preliminaries will take place this evening in Serbia.
