The mayors of Suceava, Iasi, Botosani, Piatra Neamt, Roman, Campulung Moldovenesc and Vatra Dornei signed the agreement which establishes the “Moldova is developing” Alliance.
The alliance mainly aims to support the construction of two highways, to the west connecting with Transylvania, with EU funds, and to the south to connect it with Bucharest. It will also promote investments into several local development areas.
“The association wants to efficiently promote infrastructure, public and private investment, education, health, tourism and other projects. Through these projects we want to diminish the development discrepancy between Moldova and the other regions,” Suceava Mayor Ion Lungu told MEDIAFAX.
The alliance’s signatories also said that the project was conceived to counter a lack of a coherent strategy for development and resource allocation in the region.
