The motion received 112 votes in favor, 137 against and two votes were cancelled, said Senate secretary Cornel Popa.
The opposition, which has a total 121 lawmakers, called for a vote of no confidence to overthrow the country’s center-left coalition government over the adoption of a public sector wage law.
On September 15, the prime minister asked the Parliament for a confidence vote on the adoption of the unitary pay law regulating wages across the public sector. As the Parliament rejected the opposition’s no-confidence motion, the unitary pay law presented by the government is considered enacted.
