Boc criticized the country’s former liberal government and stressed it handled budget funds irresponsibly, which triggered the worst economic downfall of the last 20 years.
"Liberals used up all the money and left behind a pile of debs. Romania risks facing billions of euros in sanctions and a cut in European Union funds and the government has no choice but reduce the budget deficit to avoid financial penalties," Boc said.
Romanian senators and deputies started Wednesday morning the plenary Parliament meeting to debate and vote on the no-confidence motion "The great PDL-PSD hoax," signed by 124 liberal and Hungarian lawmakers in opposition.
The opposition MPs drafted 17 pages of harsh remarks and criticism with respect to the government’s fiscal-budgetary policies and measures and proposed ousting the current democrat liberal and social democrat governing coalition, as a first step in the efficient fight against the economic crisis.
