SMURD Bucharest Squads Respond To Half Of Emergency Calls In Romania – Official
Udor said SMURD Bucharest teams saved the lives of over 1,400 people in the first five months of activity.
“SMURD Bucharest responds to half of the intervention calls in Romania. SMURD teams have 200 interventions a day nationwide, with Bucharest accounting for 100 interventions alone. Out of 13,500 interventions total unfolded by ISUB (Bucharest Inspectorate for Emergencies – e.n.), nearly 11,000 were made by SMURD Bucharest, in only five months and one week of activity,” Udor said.
However, SMURD squads are sometimes “pushed aside” by the Bucharest Ambulance Service, Udor said.
“Perhaps not all ambulance doctors and nurses trust us, but in time we will prove that we are capable to carry out this activity,” he mentioned.
