According to the quoted source, groups of Romanian citizens stranded in Bulgarian localities Stara Zagora and Kazanlîk are safe now, in cities, and they are able to receive medical assistance if need be. Catana added that there have not been any serious medical cases registered so far. He said that some of the Romanian tourists arriving in Stara Zagora are staying in hotel rooms paid for by the tourism companies.

The Romanian diplomat said, however, that the situation of the Romanians stuck in Razgrad and Ţar Kaloian is more difficult, since they are on open ground in their vehicles. Moreover, he said that Bulgarian authorities are unable to cope with the raging weather in this area, while relief operations might go on until Friday at least.

Thursday morning, some 1,300 Romanian citizens were stuck in Bulgarian localities, because of heavy snowing in the past few days.

A special crisis cell was formed within the Romanian Embassy in Bulgaria, which constantly monitors the situation and maintains contact with the Romanian citizens and Bulgarian authorities.
