Winter Break Tourist Packs 10-20% More Expensive Than In 2007 – Romanian Tourism Agencies
"Prices for this year’s winter holidays, both for destinations in Romania and abroad, are 10-20% higher than last year, due to higher prices for fuel and utilities,” Carmen Botez, secretary general of the Romanian Association of Tourism Agencies, or ANAT, told a press conference Wednesday.
According to tourism agencies, the number of Romanians to spend their winter holidays in the country will increase 10% compared to last year, to some 140,000, while the number of Romanian tourists spending Christmas and New Year’s abroad will increase 20%, to 50,000.
Romania’s most popular winter holiday resorts this year are mountain areas in the central region, namely Valea Prahovei, Predeal and Poiana Brasov.
Romanians’ top preferences for holiday destinations abroad are Austria, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Egypt, Tunis and Turkey.
