Romanian Transport Min Signs Arad Beltway Construction Contract
Berceanu said the contract includes penalty and termination clauses that cannot be challenged in court.
The Arad-Timisoara highway stretches onto 32 kilometers and the construction contract is estimated at EUR270 million, VAT included.
The construction auction was won by Italy’s Astaldi and Spain’s FCC Construction.
Of the total sum, EUR115 million are assigned for construction works on Arad beltway under the contract signed Saturday with FCC Construction. The beltway will stretch onto 12 kilometers in the south-west of Arad.
The contract stipulates construction works on Arad beltway start this spring and are due for completion in maximum two years.
Various problems, including incongruities regarding design works, so far impeded construction works on the Arad-Timisoara highway, which were due to start last summer.
