"After Romania joins the eurozone, there will only be extremely rare cases of severe poverty," Vosganian told a news conference.
Vosganian said the government has already taken care of or has considered most of the demands senators included in the simple motion on the poor living standard, such as fighting poverty, cutting budget expenses and increasing the minimum wage.
He said the government already took measures to increase pensions and the minimum wage starting this year.
The Senate on Tuesday enacted 74 to 33 votes the simple motion “Put an end to poor living standards! Put an end to the irresponsibility in the energy sector,” initiated by members of the leftist opposition Social Democratic Party, or PSD, and of the Conservative Party, or PC.
